Warnings
Always check the maximum pressure marked on your tire and rim, especially with hookless rims. Never exceed the lower of those limits.
What this calculation covers
This basic calculation does not include internal rim width, casing construction or wet conditions. Use your account for a more detailed setup.
Test and refine
- Check the tire and rim limits before inflating.
- Start here and test changes of 0.1 bar at a time.
- Check grip and comfort on the front tire first.

Make this advice more personal
Save your tires and wheels; your pressure adjusts when your weight changes.
- Your details stay saved. No need to enter them again, even in other calculators.
- A narrower range. Your tires, rims and weight let you calculate pressure for your own bike.
- Your next step is ready. Take your weight to the gearing calculator.

The short answer
For the road bike in this example, the basic calculator recommends 5.2 bar front and 5.6 bar rear. Use this as a starting point and always check tyre and rim limits.
How we calculate
The basic calculator distributes rider and bike weight 40% to the front wheel and 60% to the rear. Tyre width, discipline, surface, tyre type and riding goal adjust the pressure recommendation.
What this cannot tell you
Weight distribution is an assumption, not a measurement of your bike. The basic calculation does not know your rim limit or tyre casing. Check the permitted tyre and rim combination, especially with hookless rims, before setting pressure.

Input
- Rider weight
- 75 kg
- Bike weight
- 8 kg
- Front / rear tyre width
- 28 / 28 mm
- Discipline

- Tyre type
- Tubeless
- Surface

- Riding goal
- Balance
- Assumed weight distribution
- 40% front / 60% rear
Calculated result
- Front pressure
- 5.2 bar
- Rear pressure
- 5.6 bar
Common mistakes
- Using only the sidewall size when the measured tyre width differs.
- Confusing bar and psi.
- Following a recommendation without checking tyre and rim pressure limits.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the main questions about public pressure guidance.
How accurate is this calculator?
It gives a strong starting point based on weight, tyre width, surface, and tyre type. Always verify tyre and rim pressure limits afterward.
Why is front pressure lower than rear?
Most bikes carry more system weight on the rear wheel, so the recommended rear pressure is usually higher.
Can I save this recommendation?
Yes. Inside the dashboard you can save pressure recommendations per bike, wheelset, tyre setup, and riding goal.
